Lloyd's Huberman Stradivari Story

In an old Magazine, published by the insurance compyany Lloyd's, is an article from 1987 about the adventure of the Huberman "Gibson" Stradivari and how it returned to Lloyd's. The cover story also talks about old Cremona, where the most famous violin makers were located – and about my part in the process of restoring this unforgettable masterpiece in Beare's workshop in London. The mystique of the tonal effects of the original varnish is mentioned, and that no modern varnish, thus far, has succeeded in retaining the magical quality for any length of time." I have always been striving hard to come close to this quality, but of course realize that only time will tell. See my remarks on my varnish >>
